Studying nursing in Nigeria has been one of the dynamic things in tertiary education in Nigeria, being that there is a regulatory body for this course, new updates are made to the curriculum and schools are being put in check to ensure standard nursing education is being passed to students in Nigeria.
While there is a rise in schools of Nursing applicants, some schools of Nursing have also recently upgraded from offering 3-year basic nursing programme to a 4 year ND/HND programme – this will enable nurse graduates from these schools to get ND/HND Certificate and also be able to go for NYSC apart from Universities that offer a 5-year Degree Programme in Nursing. This post focuses on admission quota and accredited schools of nursing in Nigeria.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has approved Schools of Nursing, Midwifery, Post Basic Nursing, and Departments of Nursing with the Accreditation Status and Admission Quota On State Basis.
Presently there are Four Hundred (400) Nursing Training Institutions in Nigeria. Find below the list of Nursing Training Institutions in Nigeria approved by the Council as at August 2022.
