JAMB CAPS Admission Status Messages and Their Meanings

If you are awaiting admission, you may be wondering what each admission status on JAMB CAPs means and if you need to take any action. This article explains various JAMB Admission status and actions required.

ADMISSION OFFERED

Congratulations! JAMB has approved your admission. You can now proceed to accept or reject the offer on the CAPS portal.

ADMISSION IN PROGRESS (AIP)

Your school has recommended you for admission. The process is ongoing and awaiting approval from the Head of Institution, followed by a final review by JAMB.

RECOMMENDED

Your school has considered you, and your application is awaiting JAMB’s review to confirm that it meets the necessary requirements.

NOT ADMITTED

You have not been considered for admission yet. This could be because the school has not released its list or your application is still under review. Or you are not eligible for admission. 

PENDING

Your application is still under review, and no decision has been made yet.

TRANSFER APPROVAL 

Another department other than your original department was willing to offer you admission, because you didn’t meet the cutoff mark or there’s no more space. You’re to either accept or reject the new course. If you accept, your admission then enters the NA > AIP cycle to be admitted. You’re expected to change your course on JAMB to the new course after or before you’re admitted. 

Next Steps for Admitted Candidates

Candidates who have been offered admission should:

Accept or reject their admission by sending ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number registered on the JAMB portal.

After accepting, print your JAMB Admission Letter for future reference.

Important Note

If you are using a phone, you may not see the Admission Status option on CAPS. Many phone users only see the welcome message. To view the full page:

• Switch your browser to Desktop Mode.

• The recommended browser is Google Chrome.

• Simply go to Chrome settings and select Request Desktop Site to access the complete page.
