2024 JAMB Registration: How to Generate Profile Code for UTME and DE

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has announced the method of creation of profile codes for the coming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)/ Direct Entry (DE) Registration.

How to Generate Profile Code for UTME and Direct Entry

To generate profile code for UTME registration, candidates are to:

Send “NIN(space)NIN digits to 55019
Example: NIN 12345678912
Candidates who have done UTME or DE the previous year are to use the same profile code, provided it is already linked to their NIN

You can also dial *55019*1*NIN# OR *66019*1*NIN# if the SMS method does not work

Candidates that are still having challenges generating profile codes are advised to visit: https://jamb.gov.ng/support and raise a ticket on the JAMB website and within 24 hours, they will be told what to do.

What Next After Generating JAMB Profile Code?

After generating the profile code, you are to proceed to vend your e-pin. E-pin vending can be done in Banks or other outlets using your profile code. It can also be done at CBT centers which is where you will actually do your JAMB registration. But, if you have generated your JAMB e-pin already, which costs 5,700 NGN – 6700 NGN, you will not need to pay any money at the CBT center again. You can also reach out to us for your e-pin.

Common Profile Code Generation Issues and Solutions

Case 1: To generate my profile code, must I use the same phone number I provided during NIN registration?

You can use any phone number to send your NIN to 55019 or 66019 as long as the sim card will not be misplaced and you will always have access to it. We advise that you use a sim card you registered yourself.

Case 2: After sending my NIN to 55019 or 66019, I got a response of “Invalid Character”.

If you used the SMS method, ensure that you follow the right format i.e make sure that the letters are in uppercase and there is a space between the letters and numbers. For example: NIN 12345678901. Avoid double spacing as well as it may also be a problem. If it persists, we advice that you use the USSD method.

Case 3: After sending the NIN, it showed “No NIN Record Found”.

Send an email with NIN and name to nimc-jab2021@gmail.com. Then try again after 4 hours. This may be because you registered for your NIN recently, so you may wait for a while and keep trying as long as the UTME registration is still on. If you have registered a long time ago, do visit the nearest NIMC center to lodge a complaint.

Case 4: It shows a response of “NIN being used by another candidate” after sending it.

Check the NIN and phone number. If you are sure the NIN is correct and you used the phone number to send the NIN initially, try it again by sending “RESEND” to 55019 or 66019. If it persists, visit the nearest NIMC center.

Case5: It says “Invalid Passport” as the response.

Go to the nearest NIMC center and complain. It may be that the passport was not properly uploaded or the picture is not clear enough.

Case 6: I keep getting “Failed to verify NIN” as the response.

This is most likely a network provider’s issue. You can switch off and on your phone’s airplane mode or reboot the phone. If it does not work, use another network provider. If it persists, visit any NIMC center.

Case 7: It says my name is missing in my NIN after sending it.

Keep on trying! It may be an error from NIMC. If it still continues to give you that respone, visit any of their centers to lodge a complaint.

Case 8: It says “Your NIN (5162471XXXX) has been registered with GSM Number (0801234XXXX)

This means your NIN is already attached to an already used phone number, probably because you used this number to register in 2021. It implies that you are to use that same number for this year – equally, it means you are to use the profile code already attached to that previous number to register this year. Don’t worry, it won’t be a problem. If you have lost the number, and you can’t get the profile code, send a mail or visit the NIMC office.
