JAMB 2025: Over 379,000 Candidates to Resit UTME – Registrar Admits Error

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 379,997 candidates will resit the 2025 UTME due to technical issues and human error.

According to the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, this decision came after several reports of low scores, irregularities, and system glitches were confirmed in some centres — particularly in Lagos (206,610 candidates) and South East states (173,387 candidates).

In his words:

“It was a combination of human error and technology. We are sincerely sorry.”

He added that 65 centres in Lagos and 92 in the South East were affected, and candidates in 157 centres overall were impacted.

Affected candidates will be notified via email and are advised to reprint their exam slips to confirm if they’re rescheduled. The resit exam begins on Friday May 16, 2025.

My advice? Don’t panic. Stay prepared and focused. If you’re unsure about your status, check your email or visit the JAMB exam slip portal.
