All You Need to Know About College of Nursing Sciences, BUTH, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The College of Nursing Sciences, Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, is one of the reputable nursing training institution in Nigeria. The first set of Students of the School/College of Nursing entered in October, 1981 and now the school is able to continue producing well qualified, competent and proficient Registered Nurses working in all works of life around the globe. The School is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and the Bowen University Teaching Hospital is in the process of repositioning the School of Nursing to be eligible to offer OND/HND Nursing Programme. This article answers some of the questions raised by aspirants seeking admission into the school. Read on to the end to know more.

How Much is the School Fees?

The Tuition fees paid last year was ₦650k/year (acceptance fee+ school fee+hostel fee + development fee + Uniform fee + library fee + internet fee + Council Registration Fee etc).

There are other fees under admission process SUG FEE, MEDICAL TEST, TEXT BOOKS etc.

Can I pay the school fee in instalments?

70% payment of School fees is expected to be paid within the 1st semester of the session while the balance of 30% is expected to be paid at the commencement of the second semester.

Breakdown of the payment on the Portal

  1. 50% at the commencement of the session, then you have access to Course Registration
  2. 20% before the first semester examination. Then you have access to First semester results.
  3. 20% at the commencement of the 2nd semester, then you have access to Second Semester Course Registration .
  4. 10% before the second semester examination, then you have access to Second Semester Results with payment clearance

Does the School use JAMB and which Certificates would I earn?

The School is in the final stage of transforming into College from School of Nursing to College of Nursing Sciences, BUTH.

Therefore not to lose an academic session, that is expected to start October 2024, NMCN has approved the School to take her last Set (2024/25 Session) to be awarded RN (Professional Certificates) after 3 years, which doesn’t require JAMB.

Meanwhile by earlier 2025 the School would have totally transformed into college after last accreditation has been approved by NBTE hopefully by December then the school will be fully into 4 years of studies and a year of internship with OND/HND (Academic Certificates), RN and either of RM and RPHN (Professional Certificates).

This implies that candidates who does bot have UTME results are allowed to apply this year, 2024 and would be admitted into the 3-year Basic Nursing Programme to be awarded RN at the end of the programme.

In the same vein, those who have UTME 2024 results can also apply and would be admitted for the 4 year ND/HND Nursing program.

Is there an Entrance Examination?

Yes, there would be a CBT entrance examination to be done at the school premises.
