3 Ways to Escape From ASUU Strike Forever

For more than 3 Months, most Nigerian University Students are at home, not knowing their fate due to the prolonged industrial action by the ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities). Today, we will check some ways you can prevent this from affecting you as a student from now and forever.

Get Admission into a Private University

We still have some reputable and standard private universities in Nigeria offering various courses students can apply for, from Babcock, Afe Babalola, Covenant, Ajayi Crowther, Al-Hikmah to Redeemers University. These Universities are standard and are never affected by ASUU strike.

Apply to Study Abroad

If your family has the money, studying abroad may be a great idea, as the timeframe of studying is even lesser compared to studying in Nigeria. There are many institutions outside Nigeria that offer admission to Nigerian students, from neighboring countries like Cotonou, Ghana to Cote’d Ivoire which requires just WAEC results to apply – also, UK and US schools but those schools may have higher cost implications and more requirements like IELTS. Some also do offer scholarships to minimize the cost implication on applicants.

If you would like to study any of the listed courses: •Engineering (CSE, ME, CVE, and EEE) •Pharmacy •Medical Lab Sciences (MLS) •Biotechnology •Computer Science •Business Management •Commerce •Hotel Management •Travel and Tourism •Fashion Designs •Journalism and Mass Communication – you can consider applying to 40% Scholarship Offer to study in PCTE, India. PCTE in India is a reputable school that offers tuition-based scholarships to Africans to study in their school, with just your WAEC result, you can resume between July and September 2022. Japa at once and forget about ASUU strike in Nigeria.

Consider School of Nursing or Polytechnic

If you are willing to study Nursing, have your RN, and travel out to continue your study or work in Nigeria with your license, then school of Nursing might be the best bet for you. School/Colleges of Nursing in Nigeria offers 3-year for those not using UTME and 4 years ND/HND course in Nursing to students and you will become a Registered Nurse at the end of the program. Unlike Universities that offer nursing, colleges of Nursing are not affected by ASUU strike and most of them do not need UTME but your O’level result to apply. From May 2022 many of them have already released admission forms for 2022 and are still on sale.

If you are a technical person too or had low scores in UTME which may not be suitable to study at a University, you can consider doing ND/HND courses in Polytechnics in Nigeria. They are not affected by ASUU strike as ASUP controls polytechnics – in 2 years you will have your ND and move on with the next phase of life. However, ASUP does strike too, but it is minimal compared to ASUU Strike.
